Featured Designer: Karly Orr

Seattle native Karly Orr may have received a degree in Communications from WSU, but it’s her love for design that ultimately led her back to school at the NY Fashion Academy in Ballard where she went on to learn the trade and eventually win various design awards including Best Designer for Project Red Dress and Best Collection for Seamless in Seattle.

For her namesake line, Karly combines subtle textures in sophisticated colors for modern yet minimally designed dresses which can be worn from day to night. Prices range $300 - $435.

In addition to working on her own line Karly has also partnered with fellow designer Liise Wyatt on a line called Wyatt Orr. Muratori Launches Eco-Friendly Luxury Handbag Line

Luxury...with the world in mind sums up the Muratori mission of producing high quality designer handbags that are both beautiful and environmentally conscious. When Julie Berard decided she wanted to launch a handbag collection she knew exactly what she wanted: something that could be luxurious and also environmentally friendly. “We are so thrilled to present our new collection,” said Berard. “My dream was to share my love of fashion, while preserving nature. I was eager to find a way to combine these two ideas and am confident that with a Muratori bag, one will feel a sense of ultimate luxury and style without having to sacrifice the environment.”

The line made it's debut in January of 2010 and has even been picked up by David Lawrence at The Bravern. The collection is made in Italy using only the finest material including chrome-free leathers, custom-made hardware, and a strong Italian tradition carried out by master craftsman to create remarkably unique bags. The attention to detail is evident, the shapes of the bags are distinctive yet timeless and each has an element of surprise. Muratori is truly Luxury with the World in Mind™.

David Lawrence has moved to The Shops at The Bravern. The new location is next to Masin's on the second floor of The Shops at The Bravern. "The David Lawrence point of view embraces a fashion forward look while representing only the best in brand and product quality," says Mark Netherland, senior investment manager for project developer Schnitzer West, LLC. Victoria Bjorklun Exhibition- As Seen in Seattle Picks

It was first in the 1940's that store owners realized how big of an impact a great window display had on their business. Truth be told, a great window display can make the difference between a potential customer walking right by or becoming intrigued and wanting to stop in for a closer look at the merchandise. Photographer Victoria Bjorklund has taken the idea of window shopping to another level. Her beautiful black and white photos feature windows of boutiques and storefronts in Seattle and Tacoma and her entire collection will be on display from now until April 2nd at the Phinney Center Gallery. If you love window shopping and fashion you will love this exhibit.

DELI announces: The Butcher Shop

Staying within the delicatessen theme, Seattle menswear boutique DELI recently collaborated with California-based brand BETA Unit to produce "The Butcher Shop", a contemporary take on the back kitchen/food prep area which will carry exclusive styles from the two brands. The collaboration even includes a short film.

Beta Unit is an independent clothing label focused on wearability, unconventional functionality, and engineering the perfect fit. Garments are carefully constructed from high quality fabrics, often with unexpected details and experimental function. Inspiration is drawn from the unintentional art caused by imperfections and limitations within technology as seen in primitive computer graphics, ancient photography, broken fax machines, malfunctioning code, etc...As the name suggests, Beta Unit prefers and aims to produce the raw, unrendered art form in their designs. Beta Unit is sold at a variety of retailers including Karmaloop, Oak NYC, Revolve, and Nubian in Tokyo, Japan.

The Butcher Shop will debut on Friday, March 12th and run through May 30th. DELI is hosting a grand opening party for The Butcher Shop Pop-Shop this Friday, March 12th from 7-11pm.

Hello Hatchling Kids

Seattle-based Organic clothing line Hatchling Kids has adorable tees that are good for your little one AND good for the environment.

Hatchling was created by Leanne Hatch and Lisa Riech because they appreciated the idea and quality of organic clothing for their children but felt that the tranquil vibe many presented did not match the energy, playfulness and, downright silliness of their little ones’ personalities. Inspired by their mischievous, curious and creative minds, the graphics in the line are both sweet and quirky.

Hatchling clothing is made with love in the U.S.A. using the softest 100% organic Supima® cotton, azo free dyes, and non-toxic environmentally safe inks. None of the yucky stuff!
